Late autumn on the UConn campus is definitely a beautiful sight. On most days, you can hear the wind rustling through the trees, the dry leaves scraping across the brick roads, and students chatting about clubs, classes, and - of course - midterms. But on November 9th, if you listened closely and headed over to Horsebarn Hill, you would have heard something different: the moans and groans of the UConn Apocalypse, also known as ZombieTHON: The Dash of the Undead!
During the second annual 2.5 mile race, which was co-sponsored by UConn Recreation, human runners were chased around Horsebarn Hill by zombies in full professional make-up done by the Darkest Art special effects company and UConn students from a Makeup and Wardrobe class. Zombies were sprinkled throughout the course tasked to take away the humans' "health" flags. A few lucky survivors made it out alive, and the zombie apocalypse ended just after dusk... But something tells us that they'll be back next year. Keep checking the HuskyTHON website to ensure that you can participate. Who knows - you might even make it out alive!
